Australian nerd Craig Wright is trying to take the credit for the invention of Bitcoin, asserting that he actually IS the mysterious Satoshi Nakamoto… But spookily, whenever he’s asked to provide evidence …he can’t provide any… So: do we believe him… or not?
Time for another visit to his weekly column in which he asks you to believe – or not – a fabulously fantastical tale from his odditorium…
“Greetings, Patrons of the Peculiar.
In the week of the COP27 Climate Summit, I want to share the remarkable story of Greta Thunberg, the Swedish teen who became a world-famous climate activist.
When she was 11, Greta became so worried about climate change that she stopped eating and speaking.
In 2018, 15-year-old Greta began a ‘School Strike for Climate’, skipping class to protest alone outside the Swedish parliament.
Less than a year later, 1.6 million people from 125 countries took part in the first Global Strike for Climate Change.
Aged just 17, Greta addressed the United Nations. Her speech began, “For more than 30 years, the science has been crystal clear. How dare you continue to look away.”
Still only 20, Greta is an inspirational ambassador for the planet we share. She is a modern hero who everybody looks up to and respects…
But the most remarkable part of her tale is that… I am Greta Thunberg.
Yes, at the same time that I was inventing Bitcoin, I was also a Swedish teenage girl, who became a climate role model, who blossomed into the fine young woman you see today.
I did it as a way to carbon-offset the damage from Bitcoin mining, which I also invented.
I know it sounds incredible …but you’re just going to have to take my word for it, because I don’t have time right now to prove it.
But if you say that I’m not… then I’ll see you in court. I always have time for court.
Until next time, Obsessives of Oddity.”
